Israel is a country with a population of 10,305 million people. Any citizen over the age of 18 can opt to vote for one of 38 political parties on October 27 2026. The parties represent the gamut of Israel's diversity, from haredi (ultra-religious) to adamantly secular / socialist, and all shades of political thought in between. Over the last few months, new parties have emerged and new alliances formed. Some politicians have been leaving established parties to form their own and subsequently joining a block of other policy-compliant parties to ensure they will pass the electoral threshold of 3.25% of the national vote. Labels of left / right / center are no longer clearly defined in Israel's complex and volatile democracy, particularly in the aftermath of the October 7 mega-atrocity. It can be a confusing process with permutations that will continue to change shape right up to election day.
